THE incredibly successful chart-topping Green Day album, American Idiot, has been turned into a stage musical and is set to wow audiences in Manchester this winter.
The performance will be on at the Palace Theatre from November 12-24.
It tells the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world.
American Idiot features the music of Green Day including popular well-known songs such as Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends, and Holiday, as well as the blockbuster title track from Green Day’s 2004 Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album.
Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, said: “We’re excited to be bringing the US stage production of American Idiot to the UK and Ireland.”
“We played to some of the most insane crowds when we toured the album there, and we can’t wait for our friends across the pond to see the musical.”
American Idiot is already the winner of two Tony Awards and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

SHN (Shorenstein Hays Nederlander Theatres) and Google have announced a special live presentation with the cast of AMERICAN IDIOT as part of the Talks at Google series at their Mountain View headquarters. This very special event will take place this Thursday, June 14th at 3pm pst.
The event can be viewed around the world via livestream at this link.
The presentation will feature a live performance of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” as well as “21 Guns” by the entire cast. Viewers of the livestream can also participate in a Q & A by submitting questions directly to the American Idiot cast by clicking here.
“The Talks at Google program is extremely excited to host cast and creative from the musical "American Idiot", said Cliff Redeker, founder of the program. “This is the first time we've invited a Broadway show to the Googleplex and we're proud to share the experience with the world through YouTube. We look forward to hosting many more Broadway productions together with SHN as the season unfolds."
Talks at Google started in 2005 as an on-campus series to reach out to authors for exposure to the Google staff. The outreach has now surpassed Google employees and moved on to all who tune in via cyberspace. Everyone from then-candidate Barack Obama to superstar Lady Gaga has made their way to be on Talks at Google and it has since grown to include not just authors, but musicians, and now Broadway shows/performers as well.
AMERICAN IDIOT premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009 and played through November of that year. In April 2010, the musical opened on Broadway.
Tickets for AMERICAN IDIOT range in price from $31 - $100 and are now on sale at shnsf.com or by calling 888-746-1799.
For more information, follow this link, or find the show on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The Winspear Opera House welcomes the AMERICAN IDIOT national tour, the punk rock adaptation of Green Day's conceptual album of the same name from tonight, May 11 through May 20.
AMERICAN IDIOT is a one-act, sung-through stage musical that infuses traditional story telling with the steampunk, electro-explosive music of Green Day. Centered around three friends, Johnny, Will, and Tunny, the show displays the stifling atmosphere of suburbia and their parents' restrictions. Turning to the urban jungle, the friends attempt to find the vibrancy of life - and the methods to get through it unscathed.
The cast includes Broadway veteran Van Hughes as Johnny, with Jake Epstein as Will, and Scott J. Campbell as Tunny. AdditionAl Green Day songs were interpolated from other sources, including 21st Century Breakdown and the American Idiot b-sides. Original direction is by Michael Mayer.
AMERICAN IDIOT was nominated in 2010 for three Tony Awards, including best musical. The show closed on Broadway in April 2011, and subsequently launched the first U.S. national tour, which is scheduled to travel throughout 2012.
Tickets are available at www.dallas-theater.com.
