Lookout! Records, former label home of Green Day, has shuttered, gone out of business, closed it doors, closed shop, ended its run and any other term for "no more." That sucks. Times 10.
The independent punk label was founded in 1987. The company actually stopped officially releasing new music all the way back in 2006, but had continued to run catalog operations. Now, all operations have ceased. The news was broken by Ted Leo of Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, a former Lookout! act.
Leo posted the following notice on his website: "Our beloved Lookout! Records, which ceased releasing new material in 2006, but carried on keeping the catalog in print until this past December, has, sadly, shuttered its windows for good."
What a bum out. But not shocking given the state of affairs of the music industry. R.I.P., Lookout! We're glad we knew ye!
Were you a fan of Lookout! Records?
