Oakland, California (May 17, 2012) - Rudy’s Can’t Fail Cafe and OSA will host an online Ebay auction starting May 18th through June 5th, featuring limited edition monkey paintings from OSA students. This is an online benefit auction and all proceeds will go to both students and the visual arts programs. Paintings are listed under Rudy’s/OSA Monkey Project 2012, log onto Ebay to start placing your bid.

The owners of Rudy’s – in keeping with their eclectic arts theme in their Emeryville location – wanted to feature monkey portraits in their Oakland venue. Jeffrey Bischoff, partner of Rudy’s, stated “We wanted to embrace our new Oakland location and incorporate our culture. What better way than to have our talented neighbors display original artwork.” They came up with the idea of an annual contest for the OSA Visual Art students.

The Monkey Paintings Project started in 2011, as a collaboration between neighbors, located in the Historic Fox Oakland Theater building. Every year, 12 works are selected to hang in the Rudy’s Can’t Fail Café and at the end of the school year, these works are auctioned off and new works selected. Students involved in the visual art program are aspiring young artists from 6th through 12th grade.
